Tim Scott, L.Ac. Timothy Scott is an acupuncturist, herbalist, gardener, 'plant hunter,' carpenter, writer, husband, and father of two living in southern Vermont. His keen interest and exploration into health, nutrition, and herbs began 12 years ago, and after finishing undergraduate studies in Ohio majoring in psychology and general health sciences, he moved to California to study Traditional Chinese Medicine. Also while out west, Tim began his 'studies of the wild' by exploring the mountains, deserts, ocean, and rivers of a vast, untamed land. He began taking extensive backcountry trips to learn how to relax and be at home in those pathless territories. This is where his interest in local plants for medicine grew, while living for a time surrounded by abundant, redwood rainforests of northern California, and in high desert, white sage country of the south. In 2002, Tim received his Master's Degree from Five Branches Institute by completing 4-1/2 years of training in acupuncture, herbal medicine, massage, qi gong exercise, and food therapy, and fulfilled the national licensure to practice. Tim sees patients with various conditions on a regular basis, and has specialty in treating Lyme disease and other chronic diseases, mental and emotional disorders, and life transitions. He also practices Depth Soul Ecology. Also, he and Colleen began transforming a piece of forest into the Green Dragon Sanctuary where they have built their own home and specialize in growing endangered plants and Chinese medicinal plants for eventual use in the store apothecary. Tim feels deep love for, and commitment to the plant world working as an herbalist and while wild-crafting and cultivating gardens for many of his own medicines and foods. His philosophy is rooted in Deep Ecology, sacred plant medicine, Buddhist, Taoist, and Native American traditions, natural farming/permaculture, and reading the natural landscape. Tim continues to write and give talks and workshops about herbal medicine and alternative health care, natural healing for Lyme disease, local herbal medicine, invasive plants as medicine, and cultivating endangered medicinal plants. His first book, Invasive Plant Medicine: The Ecological Benefits and Healing Abilities of Invasives, is to be published by Inner Traditions, Bear & Co. in August 2010. Colleen Harris, L.Ac. Colleen is a nationally certified acupuncturist and herbalist. She has been practicing massage since 1992 graduating from Mueller College of Holistic Studies in 1995. Colleen completed a Master's Degree in Oriental Medicine from Five Branches Institute and interned at the Chengdu Medical Hospital in China. She specializes in nutrition and women's health issues. Emma Whiteoak Lee Emma Whiteoak Lee, nationally certified acupuncturist and herbalist, began studying plant medicine 11 years ago and has been a dedicated student of holistic medicine ever since. With a strong foundation in western clinical herbal medicine, she attended the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland, Oregon, and earned her master's degree in 2009. She is most passionate about working to make holistic healthcare affordable and accessible to all and introducing her patients to the brilliance of plant medicine. Emma thinks of healing as a dance between patient and practitioner and as a beautiful expression of how much human beings can help one another through this life. She is the mother of one sweet little boy and lives in Southern Vermont. |
